Word Family Turkey’s

Celebrate Thanksgiving this year with this turkey word craft! This hands-on, outside the box, feather-filled activity, is super simple and cheap. Incorporating learning into crafting makes learning fun for kids!

Materials:

Construction Paper

Sharpie

Glue

Googly Eyes

Directions:

  1. For the turkey body, cut out a pear shape using brown construction paper. Repeat 4 more times.
  2. Cut feathers out of all the other construction paper colors. Cut out 5 feathers in each color.
  3. Glue the feathers to the back of the turkeys.
  4. Label the turkeys with simple word families like -et or -ar.
  5. Have your child pick words that match the word family, and label the feathers.
  6. Glue on your googly eyes and a orange triangle out of construction paper for a nose out.
